Japanese antique doll of Oiran with parasol, 1930's
Wonderful Japanese antique doll represents long hair
Oiran or courtesan in old times. Oiran
were entertainers rather than simply 'woman of pleasure'
Their art and fashions often set trends among the wealthy
and, because of this, cultural aspects of oiran traditions
continue to be preserved to this day.
Oiran dressed in magnificent few-layered silk kimono and
silk brocaded kimono gown with padded hem and hew rich patterned
obi belt tied in front in oiran style.
Her long black flowing hair adorned in front and top with
many long hair pins and comb.
She dances with silk parasol in her hand.
Doll's face carved of wood and covered in a highly burnished
gofun and hand-painted artistically.
This magnificent doll crafted about 1930's ensuring the
finest quality and craftsmanship. Tender, expressive face,
exquisite kimonos make this doll a highly collectible item.
