Japanese Bronze Vase with a Pair of Mandarin Ducks Relief

Japanese heavy bronze vase artistically decorated with relief image
of a pair of Mandarin ducks under the old cherry tree blossoming
above the stream. Gold and silver cherry blossoms and old
tree trunk are engraved artistically as well as lovely
birds on a branch.
Mandarin ducks represent peace, fidelity, and plentiful
offspring. And because these ducks mate for life.
for these reasons, pairs of mandarin ducks called wedding
ducks in Japan and images of Mandarin Ducks are often
given as wedding gifts.
About 1950's, Showa period
Excellent condition with no damage.
Dimensions: 21 cm / 8.3 inches high
Bronze, relief, engraving, silver, gilding, tinting. Signed
by artist on a vase's base.
